Wool Felted Tray

...ah, that much needed place to drop keys, phone, whatever.  Made from felted wool--to coordinate with a set of coasters and place mats we made...Very nice when there is already so much wood in a house--a soft place to land.

...another found inspiration while on a walk-about some time back.  Initially, I just loved the shape, look, and feel of this fallen cedar branch.  As I looked at the bottom where the branching starts I saw a stag head (profile)--I thought about carving the branch pieces into "antlers".  But, then thought that would be too literal.  A few weeks pass and while on a camping trip, I came across the spine of a fallen fawn in the woods.  Then it hit me...

Suiting Up: Outfitting Fall

1. Levis 501's.  I am committing to these guys fully this fall/winter.  I haven't been able to get them "worn" in since our summer was so hot...

2.  Redwings, of course.  

3.  Nylon "bomber-style" jacket from Gap--bought this many, many years ago and every time I wear it I am asked where I got it--a perfect jacket.

4.  Shuron frames--you know, to see stuff...

5.  Wool hand warmers

6.  Cotton shirt--"military inspired".  I actually found this shirt in a big-box discount store and I liked it so much, I bought 2 of them and in Khaki color as well.

7.  Wool knit tie

Welcome Fall: "Camo" Chevron blanket

As we finally welcome fall here in Texas with cooler temps (and I use that term loosely), out comes the wool gear--like this great "camo" inspired afghan made from 2 strands of wool--one solid brown and the other a green/beige blend.  And, there is something very soothing about this very classic pattern for a throw.  I think everyone's grandma has or had one--although it was probably made from a acrylic material (not very cozy).  

Mirror Image: Antlers

I love how the mirror image on this seal creates the suggestion of a tunnel or passageway and at the top a set of antlers.....(via AnotherSomething)

Denim with Denim: Baldwin Denim

I am excited that denim jackets with denim pants is "in" for fall.  I have always loved the look and worn the combo.  Here is a GREAT example from Baldwin Denim.   I was actually watching the movie Drive with my wife, and since Ryan G. is sportin' denim with denim--now, all of a sudden, it's okay for me to do it.
