Good Proportions

One of my goals for the NEW YEAR (2011) will be to continue the practice of life drawing. It's a very challenging and rewarding hobby.  Right after I finish a eight week intensive yoga retreat.

I study the stylings of Joseph Sheppard

One of my feeble attempts

...I like playing with proportions--elongation of the form, etc...

Merry Christmas

...hoping all had a very Merry Christmas, and hoping for a safe New Year!!!!!!
handmade animal figures, and garland

yea, the tree is fake--allergy management, but ornaments are handmade!

Building Clothes: Railcar Fine Goods

Building clothes.  This is the philosophy of Steven Dang of Railcar Fine Goods in Los Angeles.  Steven, once a train repairman for the LA Metro, designs and "builds" denim (jeans).  He also creates killer western shirts.  I love Steven's history and passion for what he does--Great American entrepreneurship at work. Here are some shots from his company site.

Hunting and Gathering: Dolly Python-Dallas

A quick stroll thru Dolly Python's in Dallas.

I would love to know what the model on these is if anyone knows--I am not an expert on Redwings.  I was bummed that they were not my size.......

These would be amazing in an entry or over a farm-style dining table.

Santa and his Reindeer

We have had this "old-world" santa for 20 years, and he is our favorite.  Our holiday decor' tends to be simple and understated, but we always put these guys out.  Next week we will find a nice tree and start making fake snow out of styrofoam blocks--I'll share later.

Dana Barnes-Souled Objects

Fashion designer Dana Barnes of New York, creates amazing floor cushions and rugs out of wool.  The amazing thing about her creations is that they are "felted" wool, and she utilizes crochet and braiding to form the pieces.  Check out the NYTimes article here.

Curious?

Stopped into one of my favorite vintage places today.  CURIOSITIES, located at 2025 Abrams, Dallas, TX.  They are always a great source for that unique find.  The variety in this shop is "unmatched".
